Forget about Chelsea and Belgravia: if you stay here you'll be staying in one of the most historic parts of London - this flat is within 15 minutes walk of both the Tower of London and the London moorings of the Mayflower before her epic journey from Plymouth to Cape Cod in September 1620. 2 minutes walk away you'll also find the remains of Edward III's (1327-1377) moated manor house!

And don't think that being in this part of town makes it inconvenient for nice bars, restaurants and other attractions. The new development of Butler's Wharf (before you reach Tower Bridge) has many of these as well as being host to the Design Museum - the world's leading museum of 20th and 21st century design, architecture and fashion. As for transport, your nearest tube station, Bermondsey (Jubilee Line), is within 5 minutes walk and then it's just 6 stops to Bond Street and the finest shopping in London.

The flat is on the first floor (there is a lift) of a converted River Thames warehouse. It's the London home of an architect who 20 years ago was one of the early pioneers of these conversions which are now common all over London and New York. She and her husband now live most of the time in France so their London flat is available for you when they are not in town. There's no motor traffic noise here but you will hear the lapping of the water and the sounds of the river traffic. When the tide's in you can fish from your balcony!

"Even better than on your website - we have recommended it to friends!"

The flat sleeps 5 people in one double and one twin bedroom. A fifth person can be accommodated on a put-me-up bed. There are two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. The apartment comes with garaged car parking.

The living area is some 45ft x 25 ft (13.8m x 12.6m) with 3 windows facing the river and a set of French windows opening onto a small balcony also overlooking the river. Part of the area is carpeted and part is dark, polished wooden floorboards. Clever use is made of the massive original Baltic pine supports and beams which naturally divide the area into 4 distinct parts: two separate sitting areas, a dining area (with large French pine farmhouse table and 8 English ladder-back chairs) and a small working area containing a desk. There's a TV and small stereo system with a modest collection of mainly classical CDs.
There's also high-speed broadband internet access - bring your own laptop.

There are two bedrooms, a double with attractive 4ft6 brass bedstead and en-suite bathroom (shower, basin and loo), and a twin. The second bathroom has a bath with over-shower, basin and loo. There's a washing machine here and a drying rack.

The kitchen is part of the open plan and forms an L off one end. It has all the expected appliances including microwave, dishwasher.

Double Bedroom Twin Bedroom

From your flat you have great views of Tower Bridge (the Tower of London is just across this bridge on the north side of the river), the city of London, and down-river towards the new docklands developments. Butler's Wharf (before you reach Tower Bridge) has many excellent bars and restaurants.

This is a No Smoking property.

The Mayflower Pub

There's a good selection of local shops within 5 minutes walk in the direction of the tube station. 15 minutes walk down stream, through pleasant landscaped gardens, you get to Rotherhithe where you can have a drink in The Mayflower Pub, re-built on the spot where in 1620 Christopher Jones moored his ship when the inn was called The Shippe.
