Don't bother trying to look-up this area in any guide book - you won't find it! The Roupell Street conservation area is a well kept secret - charming Victorian cottages, original gas-lamp standards, traditional pubs. No wonder it's often used as a film set. Colin Firth and Renée Zellweger were recently spotted here shooting the sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary.
The house, in adjoining Theed Street, used to be a violin factory! After several re-incarnations it achieved its current form 3 years ago when it was converted into a modern open-plan family home. The street maintains its artistic links: a royal photographer lives next door and the London Festival Orchestra's rehearsal centre is close by.
Waterloo Station (tube Northern, Bakerloo and Jubilee lines - 3 stops to Bond Street/Oxford Street) is less than 5 minutes away. You're wonderfully placed for the arts: The South Bank Centre (Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Hayward Gallery), The National Theatre, The Old Vic and The Young Vic are all within 10 minutes walk - as are some top class restaurants. The Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament and Big Ben) is within 20 minutes. This location is also close to The City - ideal for corporate lets it also has broadband internet connection - bring your own laptop.
